About me
Julie Youtz was born in Denver, Colorado and raised in Asheville, North Carolina. She graduated from Western Carolina University with a BFA in studio arts with a concentration in painting and drawing. She moved back to Asheville after college and started working at an art gallery.
In March of 2025 she attended a small workshop at Penland school of craft during their community day, and this is where she first got to try flameworking. After that she was hooked and started taking private lessons at the North Carolina Glass Center. She now rents studio time and is learning more about glass every day.
Julie loves to create pieces that spark joy, and she hopes to inspire others to embrace the small things that bring us happiness. She has a strong connection with nature and includes a lot of animals in her work. Turtles are strong symbols of protection and patience, and some believe that having them around will bring good luck. The feathers in Julie's work can symbolize support during hardships or encouragement to pursue your dreams.
